WORKSHOPS COMING SOON !!!

FOR ALL STUDENT EVENTS:  Please CLICK HERE to download a Participant Application and the Parent / Guardian Consent form.  At times sewing and using sharp tools are involved.  

However Space / Equipment IS Limited, so sign-up soon (even if no date is listed).  Every Child   – Student residing in Middle Tennessee (aged 10-18) is invited to attend classes (some have       age requirements).  Due to lack of funding, STUDENTS MAY BE ASKED TO SUPPLY SOME ITEMS, those lacking in supplies will not be turned away.

Basic Construction Class

We are hoping to have the funds to hold this 5 day Workshop:   One (1) Design Class, Two (2) Drafting & Pattern Making Classes and Two (2) Construction & Fit Classes. Sewing/Scissors are involved.  STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO SUPPLY SOME ITEMS.  Every Child – Student residing in Middle Tennessee (aged 13-18) is invited to attend classes, However Space / Equipment IS Limited, so sign-up soon!   Class will be on Saturdays.

FALL’s 2011 Home Furnishings Construction Class (Completed Nov+Dec)

Two Classes: We are hoping hold a 3 Saturday Workshops to get ready for the wonderful upcoming holiday season! Some Sewing/Scissors(maybe) and Design & Art Principles.  Every Child – Student residing in Middle Tennessee (aged 10-18) is invited to attend classes, However Space / Equipment IS Limited, so sign-up soon! Class will be on Saturdays.

2012 Prep for Your Future Workshop – (February and March TBA)

In these workshops, students learn a multitude of skills to help them move forward after graduating high school.  Please look below at past classes to see all that is usually included.  Major focus on writing and computers skills.  Every Student residing in Middle Tennessee (aged 16-18) is invited to attend classes, However Space / Equipment IS Limited, so sign-up soon!   Class will be held on Saturdays.

2012 Resume and Letter Writing Skills – (March TBA)

In this one day workshop, students learn the basics of  writing effective resumes and business letters, as well as the beginnings of creating their own constructive blog and social media pages in the hopes to gain an edge in the competitive job and college applicant markets. Every Student residing in Middle Tennessee (aged 15-18) is invited to attend classes, However Space / Equipment IS Limited, so sign-up soon!   Class will be held on a Saturday.

2012 Prep for the Prom Class – (March TBA)

We are hope to have funding for this annual fun workshop.  Month long, 3 week, total 12 hour workshop dedicated to ALTERATIONS and RE-PURPOSING of already constructed garments.  Sewing/Scissors are involved.  STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO SUPPLY SOME ITEMS. Every Student residing in Middle Tennessee (aged 15-18) is invited to attend classes, However Space / Equipment IS Limited, so sign-up soon!   Class will be held on Saturdays.

2011 HOME DEPOT's Veterans Gift Card Program – Ongoing Since September

Still accepting applications for any US Veteran who has a need for tools generously donated by     The Home Depot.  Held at various location, usually during special community events (such as, Antique Tractor Pull and Perry County Outdoor Saturday Concerts. Please click here for more information about the grant received.

2011 HALLOWEEN SEWING: COSTUME & RE-INVENTION – COMPLETED October

Design and construction in a 1 day Workshop for creative costume ideas for old, unwanted clothing / items.  Students from Humphreys & Carroll County attended.

2011 BASIC CONSTRUCTION CLASS – COMPLETED September 

This was a fantastic & fun 6 week workshop which consisted of: ONE (1) DESIGN CLASS, TWO (2) DRAFTING & PATTERN MAKING CLASSES AND TWO (2) CONSTRUCTION & FIT CLASSES.  Benton County students attended.

Once again we held this successful workshop:  3 week, 3 day, total 13 hour session was a success again this year! Fashionable Students learned the basics of planning their future after graduation. Particular points of interest: Resume's, Scholarships, ACT Testing, and College, Grant/Loan Applications, combined with the freedoms, responsibilities and consequences of independence, website self-promotions, and financial agreements.  Students from Benton County attended.

Month long, 7 day, total 21 hour session was a blast! The all-female learned garment alteration basics. Plus, more importantly, they discovered they could create a New! Unique! One-of–a-kind! (Better) fitted garment in the same time (& with less aggravation) than the effort it took with the alterations!  What Fun!! Students from Benton County attended.

2009 Beginner's Sewing Class – COMPLETED December

THIS WAS OUR VERY FIRST CLASS!!! 5 Week, 6 day, total 18 hour session was a huge success!  Students from Benton County attended.
